The earliest records we have of the Wickham branch date from 1926. At that time there were over one hundred and twenty members. Mrs Shepherd who lived in Townfield Lane had been admitted in January 1886, presumably at another branch. One can only assume that Tanfield Lane used to be known as Townfield Lane. The rector’s wife was listed as Mrs Duke.

This was certainly a huge membership, particularly when we consider the size of the village at that time.

We meet at 2.15pm on the second Tuesday of every month. The meetings are held in members’ homes and we welcome anyone who would like to come and join us.
