Wickham is beginning to look very festive. There is something very nice about walking through the Square in the evening. It will start to look even nicer on 3rd December with the switching on of the lights, which are being put up as I write. We have a lot of historic buildings in the village, which of course give it the great character it has. Walking down Bridge Street towards the Church you can imagine being transported to an earlier era. We have a lot to be grateful for in our Village.
I think I can be forgiven for mentioning Christmas, this magazine being the December issue, but it is a time when we think of going to church. Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve is a delight, which very many Wickham Villagers enjoy. Whether or not you are a church-goer, if you value the historic position of our church in the village why not give a special present to the church building by becoming a Friend? We are entirely non-denominational and are completely independent of the Parochial Church Council. Our purpose is only to provide assistance in safeguarding the fabric and furniture of the church of St Nicholas.
I’m delighted to say that more people are joining us, so in the New Year we can begin collecting some subscriptions. Now is the time to join us and become a founder-member.
